CITY OF TSHWANE ADDRESSING RATES CLEARANCE BACKLOG
We wish to announce that the City of Tshwane issued a media statement this week acknowledging the crisis regarding the backlog in issuing rates clearance certificates. More than 4000 applications are delayed beyond 30 days. This causes substantial delays in the registration of transfer of properties in this municipality’s jurisdiction.
The City is committed to giving this backlog the urgent attention that is necessary and to clear the backlog by the end of the year.
For our buyers, sellers and business partners with transfer transactions that are delayed as a result of the current backlog, we trust this news gives you reassurance. It is however an unavoidable fact that many transactions which should have registered this year will only register in the New Year. All our conveyancing teams are doing their best in difficult circumstances, but sadly there will inevitably be delays in some instances.
